A system that maps how you're built to move, decide, and connect.
Human Design is a system that maps how your energy is built to work. It combines four older traditions, astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, and the chakra system, into a single chart called the bodygraph. The chart is calculated from your birth data: the date, time, and place you were born.
It doesn't tell you who to be. It shows you how you're already wired: where your energy is consistent, where it's open, and how you're built to make decisions you won't spend the next week second-guessing.
There's no better or worse type here, and no good or bad chart. It's a map of your mechanics. The point is to live them on purpose instead of by accident.
If you've already seen your astrocartography lines, think of this as the other half of your map. Astrocartography shows you where. Human Design shows you how you're built to be there.
The five types
Your type is the broadest thing about you, a description of how your energy is designed to move through the world.
Generator
The life force
Generators run on a deep, renewable battery, and they're built to respond to what's in front of them rather than chase things down. When something genuinely lights you up, your body answers with a yes, and following that yes is the whole strategy.
Not-self theme: frustration
Manifesting Generator
The multi-passionate builder
Same life force as a Generator, just faster and less linear. You respond to what lights you up and then move on it quickly, often skipping steps and looping back for the ones that turned out to matter.
Not-self theme: frustration, then anger
Projector
The guide
Projectors are built to see people and systems clearly, to understand how energy actually works. Your insight lands best when it's recognized and invited in, not pushed onto people who didn't ask for it.
Not-self theme: bitterness
Manifestor
The initiator
Manifestors are built to start things and set them moving without waiting for a green light. Your power runs cleanest when you inform the people affected before you act, so your momentum doesn't keep meeting resistance.
Not-self theme: anger
Reflector
The mirror
Reflectors are rare and deeply open, built to reflect the health of whatever surrounds them. You're a living readout of your environment, and you need a full lunar cycle to feel your way into the big decisions.
Not-self theme: disappointment
The bodygraph
The bodygraph is the chart at the center of Human Design. It has nine centers, the shapes below, and each one sits in one of three states. A center that's colored in is defined: it runs the same way every day. An outlined center is undefined: it carries that energy, but not consistently. A center with a dashed edge is open: it makes none of that energy itself, so it takes in and amplifies whatever's around it.
DefinedUndefinedOpen
The lines between centers are channels, and the numbered points along them are gates. Together they map where your energy is fixed and where it stays fluid. The chart above is just an example, yours will light up differently.
The nine centers, and what each one governs:
Head
Mental pressure, and the questions that keep you up at night.
Ajna
How you process, analyze, and hold onto ideas.
Throat
Expression, communication, and turning energy into action.
G (Identity)
Your sense of self, love, and direction in life.
Heart (Will/Ego)
Willpower, drive, and your relationship with worth and promises.
Sacral
The life-force energy for work, sex, and making things.
Solar Plexus
Emotions, moods, and the waves that move through you.
Spleen
Instinct, intuition, and your body's read on what's safe.
Root
Pressure, stress, and the drive to get things moving.
A defined center runs consistently, a steady source you can count on. An undefined center is only sometimes active, so it's less predictable. An open center has no charge of its own, so it soaks up and amplifies what's around you. None is better than another: defined is reliable, and undefined and open are where you're most sensitive, most wise, and most easily conditioned.
Your authority
Your authority is how you're built to make decisions, and day to day it matters more than your type. It's the inner signal you learn to trust over the noise of your mind. Here are the main kinds:
Emotional. Wait out your emotional wave before you commit. Clarity comes with time, not in the heat of the moment.
Sacral. Trust the gut response, the immediate uh-huh or uh-uh that rises in your body.
Splenic. Follow the quiet, in-the-moment knowing. It speaks once and doesn't repeat itself.
Ego / Heart. Decide from what you actually have the will and the want to follow through on.
Self-Projected. Talk it out loud and listen for what your own voice tells you.
Environmental. You find clarity by being in the right space and thinking out loud with others.
Lunar. Reflectors wait a full Moon cycle, about 28 days, before locking anything in.

The chart doesn't change who you are. It shows you who you already were.
