The 5 Human Design Types

Your type is the foundation of your Human Design chart. It describes how your energy works, how you're designed to make decisions, and how you interact with the world. There are five types, and each one has a specific strategy for engaging with life.

Generator

About 37% of the population

Generators have a defined Sacral center, which gives them consistent, sustainable energy for work that satisfies them. Their strategy is to wait to respond rather than initiate. When they follow what lights them up, they experience satisfaction. When they force things, they hit frustration.

Manifesting Generator

Part of the Generator family with the same Sacral energy, but with a motor connected to the Throat. They move fast, juggle multiple interests, and learn by doing. Their strategy is also to wait to respond, but once they're moving, they tend to skip steps and pivot quickly. Satisfaction when aligned, frustration when stuck.

Projector

About 20% of the population

Projectors don't have a defined Sacral center, so they're not built for sustained output. They see people and systems deeply and are designed to guide others. Their strategy is to wait for recognition and invitation. When honored, they experience success. When they push without being invited, they feel bitter.

Manifestor

About 8% of the population

Manifestors are the only type designed to initiate. They have a motor connected to the Throat but no defined Sacral. Their energy moves in bursts. Their strategy is to inform the people around them before they act. When they live this way, they experience peace. When they're controlled or ignored, they feel anger.

Reflector

Less than 1% of the population

Reflectors have no defined centers at all, which makes them deeply sensitive to their environment. They mirror and amplify the energy around them. Their strategy is to wait a full lunar cycle (about 28 days) before making major decisions. When they're in the right environment, they experience surprise and delight. Wrong environment creates disappointment.

Finding Your Type

Your type is determined by the configuration of defined and undefined centers in your chart. You can't figure it out from a personality quiz. You need your exact birth date, time, and location.

If you're new to the system, start with what is Human Design. Once you have your chart in front of you, how to read your chart walks through what to look at first.
